Educator, Parent and Finance Professional

Family and Community
I am a parent to three boys who all attend the Salem School District. Two are currently at Woodbury and one is in his last year at the Fisk. Our family moved to Salem thirteen years ago and I have become an active volunteer in our community over that time. I have volunteered with many organizations in town ranging from the school PTAs to the local Cub Scouts. I have served on Salem’s Recreation Advisory Committee, the Communications Committee and as an elected member of the Salem Charter Commission.

Education and Certifications
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Math Education from Columbia University Teacher’s College. I received a Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia and Language Based Learning Disorders from Southern New Hampshire University. I am certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and am a certified Project Management Professional.

Teaching Experience
I have taught at all levels from grades K through College, in multiple states and across multiple subject areas – mostly Mathematics and Computer Skills. I have worked at both public and private schools with both traditional and alternative teaching methods both online and in person. I have taught both general and special education students. I have also worked as a tutor in both Mathematics and English. My most recent teaching experience is as a part time adjunct instructor in Information and Data Management.

Finance
I have worked in Finance for the past fourteen years in two different roles. In my first role, I did expense tracking and federal regulatory compliance reporting. In my current role, I am responsible for managing and maintaining the software that supports my company’s budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reports to support prudent financial decision making.

I believe my background and experience make me an ideal candidate to serve on the Salem School Board and I look forward to the opportunity to help improve our schools.
